I’ve been a therapist since 2010, but before that, I spent nearly a decade working as an electrical engineer. My decision to change careers came from several factors, the biggest being my deep interest in relationships and how our personal histories shape the way we show up in them. I noticed that many men I knew, myself included, often struggled to make sense of relationships. When I started graduate school, I already knew I wanted to focus on working with couples so I could help clients make sense of why they get stuck in their relationships.
Helping couples turn what feels like chaos, hurt, and confusion into a clearer understanding of where they get stuck is something I find genuinely rewarding. I enjoy learning each client’s unique story and, together, we map out the strengths and challenges that have developed along the way.
As a certified Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist, I work directly with emotion in sessions. At the same time, my engineering background gives my approach a logical, structured feel. I value humor and honesty, and I aim for a collaborative process. While I bring specialized knowledge about relationships, you are the expert on your own story and how you relate to your partner. I see my role as a kind of travel guide, helping you navigate both your inner world and your connection with your partner.
Outside of work, I enjoy going on walks with my wife and our dogs. I also like exploring new restaurants and trying different foods. A fun fact: I was born and raised in Southern Indiana, spent much of my adult life in Phoenix, Arizona, and am now looking forward to this next chapter in Oregon.
